Moldova Congratulates Poland’s New President, Vows to Deepen Bilateral Ties

Moldova looks forward to strengthening bilateral ties and advancing its European path through continued cooperation with Poland. President Maia Sandu stated in a message congratulating newly elected Polish President Karol Nawrocki, IPN reports.

Sandu emphasized Moldova’s eagerness to work closely with Warsaw as both countries pursue shared democratic values and regional cooperation.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also extended his congratulations, publishing his message in three languages, including Polish. He praised Poland as a long-standing pillar of regional and European security, highlighting its unwavering commitment to justice, freedom, and dignity. “By strengthening each other on our continent, we give more power to Europe in the global competition and bring us closer to achieving real and lasting peace,” Zelensky said.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen expressed confidence in continued EU-Poland cooperation. “We are all stronger together in our community of peace, democracy, and values,” she wrote on social media. “Let’s work together to ensure the security and prosperity of our common home.”

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán extended congratulations to Karol Nawrocki on his presidential victory in Poland, expressing readiness to deepen cooperation within the Visegrád Groupa regional alliance that includes Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

Nawrocki secured the presidency with 50.89% of the vote in the runoff election, narrowly defeating his opponent, Rafał Trzaskowski.
