Moldova is developing a national action plan to implement the European Child Guarantee, a framework aimed at improving children’s access to essential services and social protection.
The plan includes measures to ensure better access to education, healthcare, healthy food, social protection and adequate living conditions, particularly for children from vulnerable groups, according to Logos Press.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, together with UNICEF Moldova, held a meeting of the Coordination Group responsible for implementing the European Child Guarantee. Participants reviewed and discussed the proposed measures included in the draft national action plan.
The European Child Guarantee aims to ensure that children, especially those from vulnerable groups, have access to quality education and healthcare, healthy nutrition, social protection and suitable housing conditions.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection said that establishing a mechanism to implement the European Child Guarantee represents a national priority and is included in Moldova’s National Programme for Accession to the European Union for 2025-2029.
Once the document is approved, the responsible institutions will have to define specific measures and actions for its implementation.
The ministry emphasized that fulfilling these commitments is also linked to Moldova’s EU accession process.
