A new round of rehearsals for the military parade marking Moldova’s Independence Day will take place today, August 13.
Military vehicles will take part in the exercises on the M3 national road, along the section between the bridge area, the L458 road and Bacioii Noi Street, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Authorities have urged residents not to panic, stressing that the military equipment is taking part in planned rehearsals. They have also asked drivers and pedestrians to be patient and, where possible, use alternative routes while the exercises are underway.
The Ministry of Defense said similar exercises will take place on August 18 and 20, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., in the Telecentru district, along the section between Lech Kaczynski and Sprancenoaia streets.
More than 2,000 members of the National Army and employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Intelligence and Security Service, the Ministry of Justice and the State Protection and Guard Service will take part in this year’s parade.
The event will also feature 150 war veterans organized into two formations, as well as flag-bearing groups of military personnel from Romania, Ukraine, Lithuania, Italy, Poland, France, the Czech Republic, the United States and other countries.
The parade will also showcase more than 100 units of military and specialized equipment. Moldova purchased the equipment through the national defense budget and assistance programs provided by foreign partners.
The equipment will include infantry small arms, self-propelled artillery systems, air defense systems, airspace monitoring and protection systems, and specialized military vehicles used by the National Army and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
