Moldova is holding the second round of the presidential election, a decisive stage in selecting the country’s president. After the first round, in which none of the candidates won the majority of votes necessary for victory, the two leaders of the race, who received the most support from the voters, are put up for a second vote.
Polling stations in Moldova and abroad are open for citizens to participate in this important political event. The second round of elections often attracts much attention as it determines who will become the next head of state and will guide Moldova’s politics in the coming years.
In the first round of presidential elections in Moldova, held on October 20, 2024, the incumbent president, Maia Sandu, received the largest number of votes – about 42.45%. The second most popular candidate was Alexandru Stoianoglo, with 25.98%. Since none of the candidates got more than 50%, a second round will be held on November 3 to determine the winner.

Other candidates showed the following results: Renato Usatii scored approximately 13.79%, Irina Vlah 5.38%, and Victoria Furtuna 4.45%. The overall voter turnout was about 51.68%
