The Moldova national football team is making its 2026 World Cup qualifying debutĀ in a match against Norway at Zimbru Stadium. President Maia Sandu has sent a message of support to the team ahead of the game.
“This evening, Moldova’s national football team begins its journey in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with a match against Norway. In recent years, our team has shown that football unites us and makes us proud of our country. I wish the players and head coach Serghei Cleshcenco great success in this match,” Sandu wrote on Facebook.
The match against Norway kicked off at 19:00 at Zimbru Stadium in Chisinau and is broadcast live on Moldova1, the public television channel.

Moldova will play its second qualifier on March 25, facing Estonia in another crucial match for a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
