Moldova Launches Financial Support for Fruit Processing Businesses

The Consolidated Program Implementation Unit (UCIP) of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has announced financial assistance for expanding fruit processing businesses in Moldova.

Increased Revenue Through Processing

Processed fruits generate higher revenues than fresh ones, and now producers can expand with financial backing from the Moldovan government through IFAD programs,” the UCIP IFAD stated.

The program offers:

  • Up to €150,000 for investments in post-harvest and fruit processing.
  • Up to €250,000 for producer groups (credit + €20,000 grant).

Eligible Investments

Funding can be used to purchase:

Processing Equipment: Washing, sorting, peeling, slicing, and pit removal machines.

Production Machinery: Juice and jam processing, filtering, pasteurization, boiling, and autoclaving equipment.

Preservation Technology: Dehydrators, freezers.

Glazing & Packaging: Chocolate tempering, glazing tunnels, bag sealing, labeling, and vacuum packaging machines.

Energy Efficiency: Solar panels, wind installations, and thermal heating solutions.

IFAD’s Role in Rural Development

The UCIP IFAD implements sustainable rural and economic development programs in Moldova with support from IFAD and the Moldovan government.
