Promoting exports, opening new embassies, increasing Moldovas presence in European institutions, and accelerating the European integration process will be the main priorities of Moldovan diplomacy in 2026, Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi said.

In an interview with the state news agency Moldpres, Popsoi said the authorities also plan to strengthen support for Moldovans living abroad and to promote national culture and traditions internationally.

On the economic front, Moldovan diplomats will focus on attracting foreign investment and strengthening economic diplomacy, which the minister said will help raise living standards for citizens.

“We will continue to provide high quality and timely consular assistance to our citizens. We will also do this through new diplomatic missions. We will ensure that the Republic of Moldova continues to have many devoted and sincere friends who support us in times of need and share in our successes,” Popsoi said.

The foreign minister also said Moldova has secured a seat on UNESCOS Executive Board and added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue efforts to promote Moldovas national culture worldwide.

“By the time of accession, we aim to integrate into a large number of European Union programs and projects in order to deliver direct benefits to our citizens both at home and in the diaspora,” Popsoi added.

Referring to European integration, the minister said he expects the opening of three negotiation clusters and stressed that Chisinau aims to accelerate the pace of EU accession talks.
