Moldova plans to purchase natural gas from the United States, Romania and Azerbaijan as part of efforts to diversify its energy supplies, Prime Minister Vasile Tofan said.
The statement was made on the sidelines of the Moldova–EU Association Council meeting.
Tofan said the government’s goal is to diversify energy resources by sourcing gas from partner countries. Moldova also plans to bring gas into the country through the Neptun Deep pipeline infrastructure.
“I want to assure the population that this is a key priority for us and that we will genuinely focus on improving and supporting them this winter,” Vasile Tofan said.
According to the prime minister, Chisinau already has a contract with Bucharest, with supplies expected to begin in the third quarter of next year.
