Moldova Secures €55 Million for Agricultural Advancements in Livestock and Irrigation

Moldova has launched the €55 million “Investments for Governance, Growth, and Resilience in Agriculture” (AGGRI) project, set to run until 2029. The initiative focuses on key areas, including extending VAT repayment for agricultural producers, developing the livestock sector, rehabilitating irrigation systems, and strengthening institutional capacities.

Financial Allocations:

  • €25 million for rehabilitating three irrigation systems.
  • €21 million for livestock development and niche products.

Vice Premier Vladimir Bolea highlighted the importance of creating a comprehensive livestock development system to address the entire value chain. The AGGRI project introduces a grant program of up to €1 million per beneficiary for livestock breeders, aiming to boost productivity and enhance production standards.

Beneficiaries are required to contribute 50% of the investment cost. The project plans to interconnect the Centralized Irrigation System (CIS) “Tudora” with CIS “Caplani” to bring approximately 3,700 hectares of agricultural land back into the irrigable circuit.

This ambitious AGGRI project is expected to significantly transform Moldova’s agricultural landscape, fostering sustainability and economic growth in the sector.
