The Moldova Security Forum 2026 is bringing together Moldovan and foreign officials in Chisinau on October 8 and 9. On the first day, participants will discuss Moldova’s role in regional security, defense cooperation and the future of European security.

President Maia Sandu will deliver a speech, followed by a discussion moderated by Alec Russell, Financial Times foreign affairs editor. The discussion will focus on Moldova’s response to hybrid aggression, strengthening security capacities, protecting democratic institutions and European integration.

Another debate will focus on Moldova’s partnerships and their role in strengthening resilience and security. Participants will include Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi, U.S. Ambassador Joseph Mark Burkhalter, the President’s Special Envoy for Development and Resilience Dorin Recean, as well as representatives of Ukraine, NATO and the European Union.

Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi and Romania’s interim Defense Minister Radu Miruță will discuss defense cooperation and strengthening NATO’s eastern flank. The agenda also includes a debate on EU enlargement and European security.

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu will speak during a public session on defense spending. At the same time, a closed-door discussion on the reintegration process will be held with Deputy Prime Minister Valeriu Chiveri and representatives of the EU and OSCE.

The first day will conclude with the launch of the book Security, Defense and the Future of Europe: Perspectives from Capitals.
