The Republic of Moldova is taking concrete steps toward energy independence and environmental protection. By the end of March 2025, the country’s total installed capacity of renewable energy sources (RES) reached 657.15 MW, marking an impressive increase of 77.75 MW in just this year’s first quarter, according to BANI.md.
The photovoltaic sector leads the way with 442.41 MW (67% of the total), followed by wind energy with 190.98 MW (29%), hydro energy with 16.75 MW (3%), and biogas with 7.01 MW (1%).
The growing number of investors choosing to operate on the free market—333.50 MW from installations that sell energy directly—clearly signals the sector’s economic viability.
