Moldova Takes Steps to Withdraw from Four CIS Agreements

Moldova will denounce four more agreements concluded within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

According to the Parliament’s press service, it has been proposed to denounce the Agreement on the coordination of relations between CIS states in the field of electric power, the Agreement on the parallel operation of the electric power systems of CIS member countries, and the Agreement on the transit of energy and electric power of CIS member countries.

Also during today’s session, the members of the Foreign Policy and Integration Commission approved the report for the advisory opinion on denouncing the Agreement on defending the interests of ruble zone states in cases where some states introduce their national currencies.

This initiative belongs to the Ministry of Finance and the National Bank of Moldova, which argue that this document is outdated, no longer corresponds to current realities, and is impossible to implement.
