Moldova- the first country to recognize the independence of Lithuania

The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its gratitude for Moldova, in a recent post on Twitter. They emphasized that fact that, 32 years ago, the moldovan parliament was the first in the world to recognize the independece of Lithuania.

The ministry also mentioned that this move was seen as very brave, since Moldova was still part of the Soviet Union at that time.

In marking this historic moment, Lithuanian authorities announced that there will be an unveiling of a memorial plaque on Moldova Street in Vilnius.
