Moldova to Launch MD-ALERT Emergency Warning System by 2027

The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that Moldova will make the MD-ALERT system fully operational by late 2027. Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin revealed the timeline during an exclusive interview with MOLDPRES.

She emphasized that MD-ALERT marks a major step in protecting citizens’ safety.
“This system will allow citizens to receive immediate warning messages directly on their mobile phones via operators’ networks in risk situations—extreme weather, major accidents, or other emergencies. The goal is to reach every person so they can react in time and protect themselves,” Misail-Nichitin said.

Authorities have already completed the feasibility study and are implementing the second phase of the project. “In 2026, we will conduct acquisitions, installations, and configurations. By the end of 2027, MD-ALERT will become fully functional, in line with the National Program for Moldova’s EU Accession 2025–2029,” the minister added.

Misail-Nichitin also highlighted Moldova’s partnership with Romania to modernize the 112 Emergency Service, launched earlier this year.
“This partnership means more safety and faster responses for citizens. People will feel the difference: shorter waiting times, quicker and better-coordinated interventions, and a friendlier, more professional 112 service,” she explained.

The agreement with Romania includes staff training and the integration of modern technologies. “This cooperation allows us to apply the best European practices and ensure that every emergency call—whether for fires, accidents, medical crises, or cross-border incidents—is managed efficiently. With Romania’s support, we are bringing European standards to Moldova’s emergency services, improving safety for every family in our country,” Misail-Nichitin concluded.
