For the first time, the Republic of Moldova has secured four medals at the World Powerlifting Championship for athletes with visual impairments, held in Mersin, Turkey.
Athletes Vitalie Cretu and Nicolae Bondarev delivered outstanding performances, bringing home one world title, one silver, and two bronze medals.
- Vitalie Cretu became world champion in the junior bench press category and also earned a bronze medal in the adult 75 kg division.
- Nicolae Bondarev won silver in the triathlon event and bronze in the bench press (90 kg) category.
The championship brought together around 70 athletes from eight countries, showcasing exceptional strength and determination among competitors.
