The Republic of Moldova is celebrating 35 years of independence today, August 27, and among those paying tribute to the country is popular Moldovan artist couple Irina and Serghei Kovalsky, members of the band Lume.
The couple marked the occasion with an unusual photoshoot in a picturesque location in Moldova. Irina Kovalsky created a special dress for the occasion, featuring an enormous train in the colors of the Moldovan flag and the country’s coat of arms incorporated into the design, Cancan.md reports.
The singer also wore a traditional Moldovan ie, while a grape-themed accessory on her head added another national symbol to the outfit.
“Happy birthday, Moldova! We love you with all our hearts,” Irina Kovalsky wrote.
She continued her message in Russian, wishing the country prosperity and expressing hope that Moldova would be loved by the people who live on its land.
“Dear country, we want you to prosper and to be loved by the people who live on your land,” she wrote.
