Moldovan athlete wins European wrestling championship

Artiom Deleanu, a Greco-Roman wrestler competing in the 55 kg category, clinched the gold medal at the European Senior Wrestling Championships held in Romania.

Deleanu’s path to victory culminated in a thrilling final where he triumphed over a formidable opponent from Azerbaijan. En route to the final, Deleanu showcased his prowess by defeating a Bulgarian adversary with a commanding score of 5:1, followed by a hard-fought semifinal victory against a wrestler from Armenia.

Meanwhile, fellow athlete Alexandru Gutu vied for the bronze medal but was ultimately bested by a skilled opponent from Russia, securing a fifth-place finish in the tournament.

Throughout the competition, Deleanu and Gutu received guidance and support from their dedicated coaches, Mihail Cucu and Roman Zgardan.
