Moldovan athletes secured two impressive medals at the inaugural IBSA Para-Judo Grand Prix held in Heidelberg, Germany. Represented by a contingent of four athletes, Moldova showcased remarkable talent on the international stage.

Ion Basoc clinched the gold medal, while Oleg Cretul demonstrated exceptional skill to earn the bronze. Unfortunately, Ina Cernei and Nicolae Bondarev faced tough opponents in their initial matches and were unable to progress further in the medal contention.

The outcomes of the Grand Prix tournaments hold significant weight in the qualification process for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Accumulated points from these competitions will determine the athletes securing coveted spots to compete in the Paralympics. Currently, Oleg Cretul and Ion Basoc hold the prestigious second position in the world rankings within their respective weight categories, reflecting their prowess and dedication.
