More than 120 business leaders and institutional representatives gathered in Maastricht for the second edition of the BENELUX–Republic of Moldova Business Forum, aimed at strengthening trade and investment ties between Moldova and the BENELUX countries.

Organized by Invest Moldova Agency together with institutional partners from the Republic of Moldova and the BENELUX countries — Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg — the event brought together representatives of the business and institutional communities, as well as a delegation of 30 Moldovan companies interested in developing new trade and investment partnerships in the agriculture and logistics sectors.

The forum was opened by Eugen Osmochescu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization of the Republic of Moldova. The agenda featured panel discussions on business and investment opportunities, economic cooperation with the BENELUX countries, and support mechanisms available to companies.

During the “Doing Business in Moldova” session, Mihai Burunciuc, Deputy Director of Invest Moldova Agency, presented the country’s competitive advantages and the support instruments available to investors. Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and Moldova Innovation Technology Park also highlighted development opportunities in Moldova’s agri-food sector and technology industry.

The program included networking sessions and business-to-business meetings designed to facilitate direct connections between Moldovan companies and potential partners from the BENELUX countries.

The economic mission also featured two days of study visits in the Netherlands and Belgium, where participants explored successful models and best practices in agriculture and logistics. The delegation visited companies and organizations including QueenFruit, De Groot Fresh Group, Smart Hub Logistics, Rhenus Logistics, PC Fruit, Liège Airport, and Trilogiport.

According to the organizers, the forum builds on the success of its first edition, which generated tangible investment outcomes. Following contacts established during the inaugural event, Heisterkamp invested in Moldova’s logistics sector, while Kingdom Roses invested €1.2 million in the country’s floriculture industry.

The organizers say the forum continues to serve as an important platform for promoting Moldova as an investment destination and expanding economic cooperation with the BENELUX region.
