Moldovan Delegation Attends the PACE Summer Session to Discuss Elections, Reforms, and Human Rights

The Moldovan parliamentary delegation is participating in the summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on June 23–27 in Strasbourg.

According to the Parliament’s Communication and Public Relations Department, Deputy Ion Groza led the delegation. It includes MPs Natalia Davidovici, Andrian Cheptonar, Adela Raileanu, and Parliament Vice President Vlad Batrincea.

On the sidelines of the session, the PACE Monitoring Committee will convene to hear an informative note from the co-rapporteurs on Moldova. The note summarizes the findings of a recent fact-finding mission. It addresses key issues, including preparations for the September 28 parliamentary elections, justice reform, the fight against corruption, human rights, and media freedom.

The PACE’s Bureau will approve the composition of the observation mission that will monitor Moldova’s upcoming elections.

The summer session’s agenda includes debates on inclusive participation in parliamentary life, focusing on gender equality, accessibility, and inclusive policies, alongside continued discussions on the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine.

Additionally, the PACE will hold three urgent debates on:

  • The situation of women’s rights in Europe,
  • Measures to stop the genocide in Gaza and the Council of Europe’s role,
  • Prospects for negotiating the exchange of prisoners of war.

During the session, organizers will award the Vigdis Prize to honor outstanding efforts in promoting gender equality and empowering women.
