Moldovan officials met with the USAID administrator. They discussed the presidential elections in the country

The President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popsoi, met in the USA with Samantha Power, the administrator of USAID. During the meeting, the officials discussed the presidential elections in Moldova, the situation in the region and in the country, as well as the support provided by USAID in the field of energy security.

“We talked about the situation in the region and the country, as well as about the last two elections, where Moldovans voted for the European path and re-elected a pro-European president. In this context, I expressed my gratitude for all the efforts of the United States in supporting democracy, civil society, and the independent press in our country, which have played and continue to play a crucial role,” said Igor Grosu.

For his part, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi thanked Samantha Power for the generous assistance provided by USAID in the economic development of the Republic of Moldova.

It is worth noting that from December 2 to 9, Igor Grosu and Mihai Popsoi are on a working visit to the United States.
