Moldovan PM presents the benefits of investing in Moldova at the World Economic Forum in Davos

Prime Minister Dorin Recean met with representatives of several international companies and Swiss business leaders to discuss regional energy security and business opportunities in Moldova on the first day of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The Prime Minister and representatives from Siemens Energy and DTEK discussed projects to modernize Moldova’s energy infrastructure and develop renewable energy production. “We are committed to investing in technologies that enhance efficiency and energy security to reduce consumption and costs, both in the industrial and residential sectors,” Dorin Recean stated.

Siemens Energy is among the companies building a power station in Moldova as part of the 400 kV Vulcanesti-Chisinau high-tension overhead power line project. “During the meeting, I stressed the need to accelerate the work to ensure the project is completed on time by the end of this year,” the Prime Minister said.

Recean also met with representatives from several Swiss companies, including Holcim, Workfashion, and Swiss Textiles. They discussed the benefits of investing in Moldova, ranging from facilities like Moldova IT Park to opportunities provided by the Free Trade Agreement with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

Prime Minister Dorin Recean leads Moldova’s delegation at the 55th edition of the World Economic Forum in Davos, titled Collaboration for the Intelligent Age, held on 22–23 January.

The World Economic Forum in Davos gathers nearly 3,000 leaders from over 130 countries, including 350 government officials and 60 heads of state and government from key regions. Moldova’s delegation also includes Economic Development and Digitalization Minister Dumitru Alaiba and the head of the Investments Agency, Natalia Bejan.

The Forum’s agenda includes discussions on global economic developments, among other key topics.
