Moldovan President Maia Sandu: Ukraine will win. Otherwise, it cannot be

The head of state, Maia Sandu, sent a message in connection with the fact that 500 days have passed since the beginning of Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine, the press service of the head of state reports.

“500 days since peaceful people, sleeping in their homes, living on their land, were awakened by bomb explosions and the roar of tanks. The innocent were executed and left to rot in the streets or thrown into mass graves. In Bucha, in Irpin, in Gostomel, in Borodyanka. Women were raped, children were killed.”

President Maia Sandu noted that the lives of civilians in Ukraine have changed radically because of this war.

“All who could, women and men, took up arms and defend their country. Millions of old people and mothers with children were forced to leave their homes and take refuge in basements, metro stations or flee to other regions of Ukraine or other countries. This cruel war brings death and terror. The occupiers are destroying buildings and houses, bombing power grids, destroying infrastructure, and, in simple terms, ruining the country,” the president said.

The head of state stressed that thanks to the courage of the Ukrainian military, thanks to the resistance of the civilian population, we have peace in Moldova. And also that we remain in solidarity with Ukraine and will do everything in our power to be near.

“Ukrainians are happy today and will continue to be grateful to our country. Our roads and railways are open for transporting Ukrainian products to European markets. As part of the international community, we will join forces with Ukraine to hold Russia accountable for its war crimes. Ukraine will win. Otherwise, it can not be. Ukrainians are the people of the world, and we are with them. Glory to Ukraine!” Maia Sandu said.
