Pupils from the Republic of Moldova can participate in the FLEX Academic Exchange Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State. The FLEX Scholarship offers selected students the chance to live with an American host family and study in a U.S. school during the 2025-2026 academic year.
The competition is open to 9th, 10th, and 11th graders who meet several criteria: they must study in Moldova, hold Moldovan citizenship, be born between January 1, 2008, and July 15, 2010, be studying English, meet U.S. visa requirements, and have not spent more than three months in the U.S. in the last five years. Additionally, FLEX invites students with disabilities born between February 15, 2008, and July 15, 2010, to participate and provide them with special testing accommodations.
Recruitment for the program occurs in three stages. Until September 26, applicants can complete an online application – three essay questions. The second stage involves an online English language test for selected candidates. The final stage is between October and December. It includes interviews and further assessments for those who advance.
