Moldova’s National Anticorruption Center (CNA), working under the supervision of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, has detained a state secretary from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and a representative of a private company in a corruption investigation.

Local media identified the detained official as Tatiana Nistorica, State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.

Investigators allege that the company representative paid a bribe to Nistorica in exchange for her influence over officials at the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA). Prosecutors say the goal was to persuade ANSA to reinstate the company’s authorization to import poultry and animal feed from Ukraine after the agency had suspended the permit following inspections that uncovered irregularities.

As part of the investigation, CNA officers and anticorruption prosecutors carried out searches at Nistorica’s office inside the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, as well as at several other locations, to seize evidence.

Authorities detained Nistorica on Thursday, July 2. Journalists from Realitatea.md filmed the moment officers escorted her into CNA headquarters. She refused to answer reporters’ questions.

The CNA also confirmed that investigators detained the private company representative as part of the same criminal case. The investigation remains ongoing.
