Moldovan students got medals at the Balkan Olympics to Mathematics

107 students from 18 countries participated in the Balkan Mathematics Olympiad for Juniors, the Republic of Moldova being represented by 6 students and 2 teachers. With bronze medals were chosen:

  • Laura Șestacov, 8th grade student, “Orizont” Theoretical High School Private Educational Institution, Durlești, Chisinau municipality;
  • Bianca Iordachi, ninth grade student, “Orizont” Theoretical High School Private Educational Institution, Durlești, Chisinau municipality;
  • Alin Popescu, 8th grade student, Gribova Gymnasium Public Institution, Drochia;
  • Robert Barbuța, 8th grade student, Public Institution Theoretical High School “Mihai Eminescu”, Chisinau;
  • Marius Cerlat, 8th grade student, Public Institution Theoretical High School “Spiru Haret”, Chisinau;
  • Cristian Sochircă, 8th grade student, Public Institution Theoretical High School “Mircea Eliade”, Chisinau;
  • Valeriu Guțu, PhD in Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor, State University of Moldova;
  • Marcel Teleucă, PhD in physical and mathematical sciences, associate professor (docent), State University of Tiraspol.

The Ministry of Education and Research and the National Agency for Curriculum and Assessment thanked the members of the Republican Olympic Council for Mathematics for their dedication and involvement in the preparation of the national Olympic team.
