Several Moldovan tourists are currently stranded in the United Arab Emirates, Israel, and other countries in the Middle East after airlines canceled or postponed return flights due to rising regional tensions and air traffic restrictions, reports the Tourism Industry Employers’ Association of Moldova (APIT).

The association says it is closely monitoring developments and remains in constant contact with tour operators.

“APIT has submitted an official request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova, asking it to designate an operational contact point to coordinate cases involving organized tourists, provide periodic updates on airspace restrictions and possible repatriation measures, establish a rapid mechanism to centralize information, and initiate a National Tourism Crisis Management Protocol to ensure clear procedures in such situations,” the statement says.

The association recommends that tourists in the affected areas stay in touch with travel agencies and airlines, regularly check their flight status, register with the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Moldova, and avoid non-essential travel.
