Moldova’s Ministry of Defense will receive a grant of approximately €4.32 million to strengthen its crisis response capabilities.

The Parliament’s Foreign Policy Committee approved today the signing of an agreement with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).

Under the agreement, UNITAR will finance the implementation of the project “Strengthening the Operational Capacity of the National Army of the Republic of Moldova.”

The funding will be used to purchase equipment and strengthen the institutional capacities of the Ministry of Defense. The National Army will receive several transport vehicles, modular accommodation units and field facilities.

The project will also provide training, certification and assessment for military personnel.

The agreement will be submitted to Parliament for ratification during a plenary session. Once ratified, the project is expected to be implemented by December 30, 2026.
