Moldova’s delegation actively participated in discussions and thematic events during the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP 16) to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). According to the Environment Ministry, delegates presented key working documents, including the proposed budget for 2025-2026, during the COP sessions.

“The discussions focused on water resources, financial mechanisms, sustainable land management, and drought mitigation, reflecting national and regional priorities,” the Environment Ministry stated.

At a dedicated meeting, representatives of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) provided updates on financial support for reporting under the Convention planned for 2026.
