Concrete Activities from Moldova’s Action Plan for European Union Integration Discussed in MAEIE Meeting. Vice Prime Minister Nicu Popescu Chaired a Working Session on August 11th Alongside Cabinet Members, Presidents, Secretaries, and Members of Working Groups Responsible for Coordinating Moldova’s EU Accession Process.
According to MAEIE, during the meeting, it was agreed that by October 1st, 2023, the working groups for the 33 chapters of the EU acquis will allocate the necessary documents to each ministry for transposition into national legislation.
“We carefully examined the implementation of measures aimed at enhancing the preparedness level to meet accession criteria. We are currently in the process of preparing a self-assessment of national legislation conformity with EU norms and regulations. We agreed that by October 1st, 2023, the working groups for the 33 chapters of the EU acquis will allocate the necessary documents to each ministry for transposition into national legislation. We are firmly committed to promoting fluent and efficient communication among ministries, and this goal will be achieved through Deputy Secretaries General for European Affairs. With each step we take, we are closer to the values, standards, and opportunities offered by the European Union,” stated Nicu Popescu.

The request for our country’s accession to the European Union was signed by the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, on March 3rd, 2022.
On June 23rd, 2022, the Council of the European Union granted candidate country status to the Republic of Moldova for accession to the European Union. The European Commission presented nine recommendations in various areas that our country must accomplish to proceed to the next stage – negotiations – in the European integration process.
