Montenegro denies that it is related to the alleged subversive actions in the Republic of Moldova

Similar reaction as Serbia from Montenegro. Dritan Abazovic, the prime minister of this country, denied on Tuesday, February 14, that his country had anything to do with the alleged involvement of its citizens in subversive actions in the Republic of Moldova and announced that he would request information from the Moldovan authorities in this regard. writes Agerpres.

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, accused Russia on Monday of planning a coup with the help of citizens with military training from Belarus, Serbia and Montenegro, who would carry out violent actions disguised as protests.

Prime Minister Abazovic (centre-left), who said he learned of the allegations from the media, announced that his government would contact Maia Sandu’s cabinet “to obtain more clarifications”, indicating that, if necessary, the Montenegrin information will carry out additional checks, reported the local Pobjeda portal.

“What I read sounded somewhat harsh to me because it creates the impression that Montenegro is involved in the problems in the Republic of Moldova,” he said, without excluding the possibility of “irresponsible people”.

He recalled that Montenegro, a candidate for joining the European Union, fully aligned its foreign policy with that of the EU and joined the sanctions against Russia for its aggression against Ukraine.

This Balkan country has been a member of NATO since 2017, and at that time there were protests by pro-Russian groups against its accession to the North Atlantic Alliance.

We remind you that Maia Sandu’s statements came after Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenski denounced in Brussels last week a Russian plan to destabilize the Republic of Moldova. Thus, he announced that the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) has information about plans to involve the citizens of Russia, Belarus, Serbia and Montenegro in unconstitutional actions on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, in short to overthrow the current leadership. Immediately, the first deputy prime minister and foreign minister of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, demanded an explanation for such accusations.

Later, the PAS deputy Adrian Cheptonar gave details, such as that the Serbian subversives wanted to enter the territory as microbists. Sheriff has a football match with Partizan Belgrade on February 16 at the Zimbru stadium. In a way, the Border Police confirmed this version, because they informed that the Serbian microbiologists could not justify the purpose of the visit to the Republic of Moldova. Thus, at least 12 turned back.

It should also be mentioned that the USA cannot confirm the information about Russia’s attempts to destabilize the situation in the Republic of Moldova. Previously, the deputy general secretary of NATO, Mircea Geoană, had declared that the plan exists, but there are not enough forces to reach us.
