Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu met today with the Ambassador of Latvia to the Republic of Moldova, Edgars Bondars, to discuss the expansion of bilateral cooperation and the deepening of economic and institutional relations between the two countries.

The talks focused on attracting Latvian investments, particularly in the fields of information technology and energy. The officials noted that the direct Riga–Chisinau air connection, as well as business forums organized in both capitals, contribute to bringing business communities closer together and stimulating economic cooperation.

At the same time, the prime minister praised joint projects aimed at modernizing cybersecurity infrastructure and crisis management. In this context, Latvia is supporting the development of the capacities of the Information Technology and Cyber Security Service through training programs, exchanges of experience, and methodological assistance for the establishment of a future national data center.

“Latvia’s support for the European integration of the Republic of Moldova is significant, and Latvia’s experience in the EU accession process and post-accession reforms is a valuable source of expertise for us,” Alexandru Munteanu said.

The two officials also agreed to continue institutional cooperation to strengthen public administration capacities, as well as collaboration in combating disinformation and in the fields of education and culture.
