The European Parliament will adopt a resolution next week supporting Moldova’s European integration. The announcement was made in Chisinau by Romanian MEP Siegfried Muresan during a joint press statement with the Vice President of Parliament, Doina Gherman.
The official from Brussels referred to Romania’s example of European integration. At the same time, Muresan reiterated that EU member states are stronger together and can better address challenges.
“We will adopt a resolution supporting European integration. We will see that the European Parliament wants to play a strong and active role, including in the accession negotiations with the EU,” Muresan stated.

We note that in July 2024, the European Union member states approved the start of accession negotiations with Moldova. The goal of the authorities in Chisinau is to make the country an EU member state by 2030.
On October 20, 2024, the Republic of Moldova will hold a referendum on EU accession alongside the presidential elections. Citizens will vote on whether to include an article in the Constitution emphasizing the country’s strategic objective of European integration.
