Although the PAS has not yet announced a candidate for Prime Minister, public speculation has already emerged. The PAS leader Igor Grosu and PAS vice-president Doina Gherman top the list of potential candidates.

Telegraph Moldova reports that both names are under consideration. The source adds that 15 deputies elected on the PAS list may give up their mandates, allowing substitute candidates to take their places.

Blogger Eugen Luchianiuc suggested on Telegram that businessman Vasile Tofan could become Prime Minister. Another name circulating is entrepreneur Alexander Gutsu, according to sources cited by journalist Vadim Ungureanu.

The PAS representatives and the individuals mentioned have not commented on the rumors.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean declined an offer to continue leading the cabinet and announced he will submit his parliamentary mandate once the new Legislature is validated.

The PAS leader Igor Grosu confirmed that the party already has a candidate for Prime Minister but plans to reveal the name only after the Constitutional Court validates the election results, the new Parliament convenes, and factions consult with President Maia Sandu.
