Next week, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nicu Popescu will participate in the NATO Summit in Vilnius. Western allies are set to adopt a declaration of support for the Republic of Moldova. However, negotiations are ongoing until the last moment, and the details will be revealed on the day of the summit.

During a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nicu Popescu hinted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had visited Moldova on his way to Bulgaria, where he discussed security guarantees that Ukraine is seeking at the NATO summit.

“It is absolutely clear that NATO is a reliable partner, NATO is a partner that assists our country. NATO is an organization that has successfully ensured peace on the European continent, and this partnership helps us in the Republic of Moldova to maintain Moldova in conditions of peace, stability, and calm. The political relations with the Russian Federation are largely affected by the hostile and unfriendly policies of the Russian Federation towards the Republic of Moldova.
