The Government of the Republic of Moldova has approved the Decision on the Methodological Norms for the Development and Approval of National Tourist Routes, a key measure for fostering the sustainable growth of the tourism sector, the Ministry of Culture announced.

Developed by the Ministry, the regulation outlines the stages for designing, approving, monitoring, and discontinuing national tourist routes, setting out clear criteria and requirements for their recognition.

According to the Ministry, the new framework will support tourists, operators, and local communities, providing predictability for investment planning and stimulating economic activity generated by tourism.

“When a tourist chooses to visit a country or a route, they should be confident it offers a basic package of conveniences — transport, accommodation, food, and related services,” said Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan. “The approved norms set clear standards for everyone involved — tourists, operators, and local authorities. They will ensure predictability for businesses in the field and strengthen Moldova’s appeal as a tourist destination.”

The Ministry of Culture aims to establish a transparent, unified, and sustainable framework for route development, promote Moldova’s cultural and natural heritage, encourage environmentally responsible tourism, and foster local economic growth through high-quality services.
