Vice Premier Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, is set to present on Tuesday, June 27, the advancements made in implementing the nine recommendations provided by the European Commission, crucial for opening the accession negotiations between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union.
The progress of Moldova on its European journey will be showcased at the General Affairs Council (GAC) in Luxembourg. Comprised of ministers and state secretaries responsible for European affairs from all EU member states, as well as high-ranking officials from the European bloc, the GAC oversees various cross-sectoral policy areas, including EU enlargement and accession negotiations.
During the visit to Luxembourg, upon the invitation of the Swedish Presidency of the EU Council, Nicu Popescu will engage in bilateral meetings with several counterparts and EU officials.

On June 28, the head of diplomacy in Chisinau will travel to Copenhagen to participate in the Conference commemorating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Copenhagen criteria.
“I will deliver a speech on the importance of European Union enlargement and hold meetings with several high-ranking officials,” claimed Popescu.
The presentation of Moldova’s progress at the GAC meeting represents a crucial step towards further integrating the country into the European Union, highlighting its commitment to meeting the necessary requirements for future EU membership. The discussions and bilateral meetings during the visit aim to strengthen partnerships and deepen cooperation between Moldova and the EU, fostering mutual understanding and paving the way for a prosperous European future.
