Moldova and the state of North Carolina, USA, have formalized their commitment to strengthen their amicable relations through a Memorandum of Principles and Procedures. Prime Minister Dorin Recean and North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine F. Marshall, currently on a working visit to Moldova, signed this significant document in Chisinau today.
“As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of our enduring partnership with the American state of North Carolina, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Secretary of State Elaine F. Marshall. Your unwavering dedication and genuine investment in fostering collaboration between Moldova and North Carolina have been exemplary. Your steadfast friendship and consistent support for Moldova have been invaluable. At this critical juncture, akin to Ukraine, Moldova requires both tangible and political support to foster resilient societies and advance our nation’s development.
Over the past 25 years, our partnership with North Carolina has yielded numerous initiatives spanning education, academic exchanges, pharmaceuticals, dentistry, and emergency medical assistance. Today, we have ratified an enhanced version of the Memorandum of Cooperation, charting a course for the next five years, which promises further advancement in our bilateral cooperation,” remarked Dorin Recean.
Secretary of State Elaine F. Marshall underscored the pivotal importance of the partnership between North Carolina and Moldova, particularly in light of Moldova’s current challenges. “Now, more than ever, we recognize that every exchange or humanitarian endeavor facilitated through this partnership significantly impacts the outcomes in Moldova. This collaboration also holds sway over Moldova’s aspirations for EU accession by 2030. We pledge our utmost commitment to aiding in the realization of your vision for a more prosperous, secure, and developed nation,” Marshall affirmed.
