“Our house is in danger.” On Sunday, September 28, 2025, President Maia Sandu cast her vote at the “Petru Rares” Theoretical High School and then addressed the press with an appeal to Moldovan citizens.

“I voted for a Parliament that can maintain peace, respect the Republic of Moldova and its citizens, and continue building a European Moldova. Dear citizens, I invite you all to go out and vote. Moldova, our dear country, is in danger and needs the help of every one of you. You can save it today with your vote. Tomorrow it may be too late. Your vote must decide the fate of our country, not the bought votes. Let’s show the world that the Republic of Moldova is not just a small country with a big heart, but also a country with dignified people, people who do not sell their country for 400 lei or 400 euros. Let’s not allow thieves and traitors to sell our future. The Republic of Moldova may be small, but it is strong. We march forward, peacefully, toward our European future.”

The head of state also pointed to Russia’s interference in the parliamentary elections. It delivered a message in English about the importance of voting for the security of Ukraine, regional countries, and Europe as a whole.

“We all know that the Russian Federation has heavily involved itself in the elections in the Republic of Moldova. I spoke about this, and our institutions also explained the different methods—from attempts to buy votes, for which hundreds of millions of euros were spent, to training young Moldovans to organize violence and destabilization. We all saw how Russia recruited and trained Moldovans to seize power in Chișinău and use the Republic of Moldova for its own purposes. Moldovans must decide for Moldova, and today is the day when we must protect our country.”
