The parliamentary faction of Our Party has proposed eliminating parliamentary immunity for lawmakers. The initiative was announced by MP Elena Gritsco.

“We have always said that when you have nothing to hide and you live your life honestly, respecting the principles of your country and the law, there is nothing to hide.

We want to see whether all deputies — all 101 members of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova — are ready today to sign this draft, because it is a constitutional initiative. Let us see whether all 101 MPs are ready to sign this bill,” Gritsco said.

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said that the Party of Action and Solidarity will support the initiative. However, he noted that the document must go through all required legislative procedures before reaching the approval stage.

The Democracy at Home faction also said it is ready to support the proposed changes, according to MP Alexandru Vershinin.

Members of Moldova’s Parliament are expected to sign the document, after which it will be submitted to the Constitutional Court of Moldova for review and an advisory opinion.
