Over 1,300 Ukrainian children are enrolled in schools in Chisinau. The institutions with the highest numbers

Starting with the 2024-2025 academic year, around 1,353 Ukrainian children have been integrated into 45 primary and secondary institutions in the capital. According to data from Chisinau City Hall, this represents an increase of over 500 students compared to May 2024.

Chisinau kindergartens have enrolled another 370 children aged 2-7.

  • “Taras Shevchenko” Gymnasium – 212 students
  • “M. Kotiubinski” Theoretical High School – 128 students
  • “Petru Movila” Theoretical High School – 84 students

For the first time this year, the “Taras Shevchenko” Gymnasium has opened four classes with instruction in Ukrainian for 91 refugee students.

“To support the refugee community, the General Directorate of Education, Youth, and Sports (GDEYS) continues to identify available places in educational institutions and provide psycho-social counseling for children and parents. Additionally, we ensure the equivalency of study periods and constantly update necessary information for refugee families. Chisinau remains a city of solidarity and support!” explained Angela Cutasevici, Deputy Mayor of Chisinau.
