Authorities examined the use of Road Fund resources in 2025 for the repair and maintenance of the national public road network, as well as the budgeting plans for 2026, during a meeting of the Road Fund Council chaired by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.

In 2025, the government allocated about 2.59 billion lei for maintenance and repair works on national public roads. According to the budget execution report presented by the State Roads Administration, authorities used approximately 2.51 billion lei between January and December 2025, representing 96.7 percent of the allocated funds.

The government allocated 802.5 million lei for the maintenance of national public roads. Crews carried out summer and winter maintenance works, built and arranged passenger stations, and upgraded roundabouts, intersections, and pedestrian crossings.

Authorities earmarked 1.1 billion lei for the reconstruction and repair of national public roads and engineering structures. They also spent more than 61 million lei on road design, assessment works, and land acquisition.

During the meeting, participants discussed the Road Fund Council’s activity plan for 2026 and reviewed the draft program for allocating Road Fund resources for national public roads. For 2026, the government has allocated an initial budget of about 1.8 billion lei, primarily to improve driving conditions and enhance traffic safety.

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu stressed the need to use modern technologies in road infrastructure projects to ensure long-lasting results.

“Our country has turned into a construction site, and this is encouraging. We must continue building good roads, ensure proper access to all settlements, and work actively so that projects move forward as quickly as possible,” Munteanu said.
