A total of 23,029 people residing in the Transnistrian region were officially employed on the right bank of the Dniester during the first half of 2026, according to the Bureau for Reintegration Policies.
Of them, 13,190 were men and 9,839 were women.
More than 72% of these employees work in Chișinău. They come mainly from Bender, Tiraspol, Rîbnița, Dubăsari and Grigoriopol.
The largest groups are employed in retail trade, electrical and electronic cable manufacturing, clothing and furniture production, construction and transport, as well as in the public and services sectors.
Among those officially employed on the right bank are teachers, medical assistants, rescuers and IT specialists.
The Bureau for Reintegration Policies says the growing number confirms the continued socio-economic integration of residents of the Transnistrian region into Moldova’s labor market.
“Legal employment provides citizens from the left bank of the Dniester and Bender with essential social guarantees: a safe working environment, access to paid leave, legal protection and competitive incomes,” the institution said.
According to the constitutional authorities, the growing participation of residents from the Transnistrian region in Moldova’s labor market demonstrates their direct contribution to the country’s socio-economic development through their employment and tax and social contribution payments.
