More than 500 Moldovan citizens living abroad have already pre-registered to vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections, scheduled for September 28, 2025. The pre-registration process began on April 22.
According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), over 113,500 Moldovans from more than 80 countries have registered in recent years to vote outside the country. The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) unveiled data to this effect at a request by Moldpres.
Rodica Sirbu, head of the CEC’s Communication, Public Relations, and Media Department, stated that the highest number of registered voters reside in Italy (approx. 23,000), followed by the United Kingdom (16,434), Germany (15,090), Russia (14,181), France (9,395), Romania (7,267), Ireland (5,393), and the United States (4,673).

“The goal of pre-registration is to estimate how many Moldovans intend to vote abroad, which helps determine the number and locations of polling stations outside the country,” said Sirbu. “Citizens who registered for previous elections and have not changed their residence abroad do not need to register again.”
Moldovan citizens eligible to vote abroad can pre-register online via the CEC’s “Pre-Registration” platform at https://inregistrare.cec.md. The registration period will remain open until August 14, exactly 45 days before election day.
