Panic at Chisinau Airport! An explosive object was found in a toy

Panic erupted at Chisinau International Airport on the evening of Tuesday, January 7, 2025, when border and customs officers discovered an explosive device hidden inside a toy car. The Border Police announced the incident in a press release.

“On January 7, 2025, during a special inspection of postal consignments at Chisinau International Airport, Border Police officers, in collaboration with customs officials, detected an object resembling a toy car that appeared to contain components of an explosive device.

Following protocol, the officers stopped the object in the X-ray scanning device and requested assistance from the Technical-Criminalistic and Forensic Expertise Center of the General Police Inspectorate (PGI). Experts from the center promptly identified and neutralized the suspicious object. Thanks to their professionalism and swift action, the situation was resolved safely, without posing any risk to the airport, travelers, or staff,” the statement read.

The Border Police confirmed that the incident did not endanger passengers and did not disrupt airport operations.

Meanwhile, PulsMedia journalists reported that the explosive device was a homemade bomb intended for delivery to Tbilisi, Georgia.
