The Deputy Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament, Doina Gherman, participated in solidarity at the meeting of the Global Parliamentary Network in Support of Ukraine “United for Ukraine” (U4U), which took place on 23-24 February in Kyiv on the occasion of the second anniversary of the outbreak of the Russian Federation’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

The event, which brought together European and Ukrainian parliamentarians, discussed the support given to Ukraine by representatives of European parliaments in the fight against the Russian aggressor.

“The participants of the meeting stressed the importance of continued assistance to Ukraine. Attending the event, the chairmen of the foreign affairs committees of the European Union member states, as well as representatives of the global parliamentary network “United for Ukraine,” adopted a declaration expressing their deep respect and admiration for Ukraine’s heroic defense and common democratic values,” the Parliament informs.

In the margins of the solidarity visit, Doina Gherman met with the Deputy Speaker of the Supreme Rada of Ukraine, Olena Kondratiuk. The two officials discussed the condemnation of the Russian invasion, the illegal annexation of territories in eastern Ukraine, and violations of international and human rights.

“We will continue to help Ukrainian refugees as we have done since day one, through solidarity and unity. We believe in a free Ukraine, a safe Moldova, and a united Europe”, said Parliament’s Vice-President Doina Gherman.

Another topic discussed during the meeting was the cooperation between the Moldovan Parliament and the Ukrainian Supreme Rada to adopt a resolution on the deportation of Ukrainian children by the Russian Federation.

At the same time, Vice-President Doina Gherman invited her counterpart Olena Kondratiuk to visit the Republic of Moldova and learn about the success stories of Ukrainian women who have managed to open small businesses in our country and inspire all with their courage and resilience.

It should be noted that the Global Parliamentary Network “United for Ukraine” (U4U) brings together 350 former and current members of parliaments as well as officials from over 30 countries supporting Ukraine in their home countries and internationally.
