On Tuesday, February 18, the National Army received a batch of military equipment from the United States Government, as announced by the Ministry of Defense. To mark the occasion, the ceremony took place at Military Camp 142, where the 29 units of HMMWV military vehicles were presented. This support is part of efforts to strengthen the defense capabilities of the Republic of Moldova.
Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii emphasized that the reception of this military equipment proves the success of joint efforts to enhance defense capacities.
”This batch of assistance is a clear example of the effective and long-term cooperation between Moldova’s and the USA’s defense institutions, confirming that we share the same objectives — to ensure peace and security. We can only achieve this through solidarity and by uniting our efforts,” said Anatolie Nosatii.
The official thanked the US Government for this enormous donation, which is part of modernizing the National Army and contributes to the safety of Moldova’s citizens.
“These vehicles will be handed over to the Special Purpose Battalion ‘Fulger’ soldiers to enhance interoperability with other armies during training activities and joint exercises. We will continue efforts to equip the National Army to international standards so that our soldiers can fulfill their constitutional mission of defending the country,” Minister Nosatii stated.

The Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Moldova, Daniela DiPierro, noted that in recent years, the United States has provided $90 million in donations to modernize Moldova’s National Army.
”The United States is proud to work with the people and government of Moldova to modernize the National Army and better equip Moldova’s military to ensure the security of its citizens. In the last five years, the United States has provided $90 million in donations to modernize the National Army. The $8.9 million donation we are celebrating today reflects the generosity and commitment of the American people to enhance Moldova’s security and prosperity. You are the ones building a prosperous and safe future for Moldova. Thank you for your service!” concluded the official.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the 29 HMMWV armored vehicles, produced in 2024, were delivered to the National Army throughout January.
Authorities provided these vehicles through the US Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program.
