The “USA Freedom 250” festival in Chisinau was marked by a large-scale celebration dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States, bringing together government officials, international partners, and the public to highlight shared democratic values and long-standing cooperation.

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu attended the opening ceremony and emphasized that freedom is not only a historical achievement, but an ongoing responsibility. He noted that modern freedom includes energy security, economic resilience, strong institutions, and the dignity of citizens, all of which must be protected and developed daily.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the 35-year partnership between Moldova and the United States, pointing to significant investments that have shaped national development. Over $100 million has been directed to road infrastructure, modernizing around 100 kilometers of roads, while approximately $130 million has supported the construction of the Liberty power line, which will connect Moldova to the European energy system via Romania.

According to officials, these projects represent more than financial assistance — they reflect a partnership built on shared values such as democracy, stability, and respect for people. Cooperation has also extended into education, healthcare, and border modernization, strengthening institutions and improving everyday life.

The festival, which began in Balti, continued its program in Chisinau and is set to move next to Comrat. Organized with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Moldova, the event includes film screenings, interactive sessions, and family-friendly activities.

Overall, the USA Freedom 250 festival in Chisinau highlighted not only the celebration of American independence, but also the strength of international partnership and the shared commitment to freedom and democratic values.
