Maia Sandu has welcomed the European Union’s support for Ukraine and has emphasized the importance of European unity in the context of regional security.
The president praised the EU’s approval of a €90 billion loan for Ukraine and the adoption of the 20th package of sanctions against Russia.
“Today, the European Union once again demonstrates that unity means strength,” Maia Sandu stated.
She stressed that increasing support for Ukraine and intensifying pressure on the aggressor strengthen security across the continent. In her view, these measures contribute to building a safer and more stable Europe.
On April 23, the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the European Union approved the €90 billion loan for Ukraine after Hungary withdrew its veto. Following approval at ambassador level, the Council of the European Union is expected to formally adopt the decision.
