Moldovan police have confirmed that the brother of PAS MP Ilie Ionaș was administratively sanctioned following an altercation with a woman on July 12, after an emergency call was made to the 112 service.
According to the National Police, officers responded to the scene, identified the individuals involved, and carried out the procedural and investigative actions required by law. Based on the evidence collected, the man was sanctioned on July 15 in accordance with the applicable legislation.
Police also said they launched additional inquiries after information surfaced about alleged similar incidents on May 8 and July 24. Authorities stated that the allegations regarding the July 24 incident were not confirmed.
“Anyone who has information or relevant evidence regarding any unlawful act is encouraged to submit it to the competent authorities so that it can be verified and all circumstances can be established,” the National Police said.
The case gained renewed attention on July 30, when independent MP Ana Țurcan-Oboroc from the Democrația Acasă party called on the Ministry of Justice, the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ombudsman’s Office, the Audiovisual Council, and the National Agency for the Prevention and Combating of Violence Against Women to investigate the allegations.
The lawmaker claimed that after the victim called 112, police officers who arrived at the scene were allegedly contacted by someone, allowing the suspect to leave. She also alleged that the incident had been documented through photos and videos but was subsequently covered up.
The Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) rejected those claims, calling them false.
The allegations against Ilie Ionaș’s brother were initially circulated by a Telegram channel and accompanied by images taken from Reddit, one of which was seven years old and another one year old, according to PAS.
